to Thailand for a dental treatment

Visiting Thailand for dental work is killing two birds with one stone. You get a vacation in beautiful Thailand, as well as a new and improved smile that you will bring back home. However, planning your dental tourism trip can be time consuming and ultimately confusing. Here are a few examples of appointments and visit plans for each type of procedure to help you get an idea on how to plan a vacation around your dental appointments.

  • Cleaning – 30 minutes
  • Teeth whitening – 45 minutes
  • Root canal treatment – from 1 to 7 days for each of the 1 to 3 visits
  • Cosmetic veneers – from 1 to 2 week
  • Full-mouth rehabilitation – 1 week or 3 to 4 weeks (varies between cases)
  • Simple implant – from an hour service on the first trip and 2 weeks for the second trip for abutment and crown on the implant
  • Full mouth implants – from 1 to 3 weeks for each of the 1 to 3 trips depending on the treatment plan
  • Cosmetic crown zirconium or veneer – 3 days

To help plan your trip to Thailand and to Bangkok Dental Spa, we have come up with appointment examples to give you an idea of how much time each dental service takes and how much time you should plan to be in Thailand.

Teeth Whitening

Appointment 1
Laser Teeth Whitening will take approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour.

Only 1 appointment is needed.

Cosmetic Veneers

Appointment 1
Consult with dental specialist to create a treatment plan specific to you. Finalize the plan and start treatment

3 – 5 days gap for laboratory work

Appointment 2
Fixation, approximately 2 hours depending on the case

Appointment 3
Optional check-up appointment

Crowns

Appointment 1
Consultation to draw up treatment plan, and quote specific to you. Finalize the plan, come to an agreement and start treatment. 2 hours, with temporary to bring home

2 – 5 days gap for laboratory work

Appointment 2
Fixation of crown of bridge, approximately 1-2 hours depending on the case

Appointment 3
Optional check-up appointment

Dental Implants

First Trip to Thailand

Appointment 1
Consult and xray with dental specialist to create a treatment plan specific to you. Finalize the plan and start treatment

Appointment 2
Implant surgery (implant Fixation) approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the case.

Appointment 3
Optional check-up appointment

At least 2 months gap to allow proper healing bone formation around the implants and make sure that you will have the strong implant before we loading with crown or chewing food

Second Trip to Thailand

Fixation and insertion of abutment and permanent porcelain crown on implant between 3 – 5 days in most cases.

Immediate Implants

Appointment 1
Consult and xray with dental specialist to create a treatment plan and quote. After agreement, we will start work by preparing for the lab work of the crown or prosthesis. Approximately 2 hours.

Appointment 2
Day of the surgery. Teeth extraction and implant placement. Temporary crown on the implant abutment. Approximately 1 – 2 hours in total.

Appointment 3
Depending on the case, you may need a third appointment or a second trip to thailand in 2 months time to change the temporary crown to a permanent porcelain crown.

Immediate Implant with Loading Force

Appointment 1
Check-up, consult, payment, X-Ray with 3D CT scan to create the plan. Approximately 1 hour.

Appointment 2
Day of the surgery. Extract bad teeth and perform immediate replacing of 4 – 6 implants on both upper and lower arch. Total will be 8 – 12 implants for the upper and lower arch.

Appointment 3
Day 2 of the surgery, in the case where patients prefer having the surgery of the upper arch and lower arch on 2 separate days.

At least 3 days for laboratory work

Appointment 4
Insertion of the new prosthesis on both upper and lower arch.

Appointment 5
Final check up before returning to your home country.

As you can see here, some appointment plans require 2 to 5 days gap for laboratory work or healing time in between appointments. This is a perfect opportunity to explore Bangkok or plan a couple of days trip to beautiful cities like Chiangmai, Samui, and Phuket.
