Studies have shown that when a person is
scared or anxious, his blood pressure shoots up and his body produces more
adrenaline, making any anesthetic less effective.
But blood pressure can be brought down with a simple massage. A massage is
said to release endorphins that help lower blood pressure in the body,
keeping a dental patient relaxed.
So, at the Bangkok Dental Spa, a patient gets a quick massage on the nape,
face, jaw and shoulder before the tooth job to put him or her at complete
ease. He gets the same upper-body treatment after the dental job to relieve
sprain in the mouth and jaw. And if a patient wishes, he can also have foot
massage while work is being done in his mouth - a wonderful treat for those
undergoing treatment that requires long hours on the dental chair.
On top of the quick massage, a patient also gets a complimentary body
massage, depending on the kind of tooth job he or she came for. This is done
in the fully furnished spa room under the hands of a skilled Thai therapist.
He or she can choose from the following spa menu:
TIFFANY BODY OIL MASSAGE (1 hour ). A luxury body treatment using
aromatic oils and herbs. The therapy, which starts with herbal tea as you
rest on a silk sofa, includes a shower. It is richly relaxing and perfect
for sore muscles.
TRIPLE STAR BODY MASSAGE (1 hour and 30 minutes). Three therapists,
in total harmony, work every inch of your body using a unique acupressure
technique to relax the muscles and improve blood circulation for 1 hour and
another 30 minutes to take special care of your hands and feet with scrubs
for total relaxation.
SAWASDEE MASSAGE (1 hour). A much more relaxing type of traditional
Thai massage meant to relieve stress and tiredness. The special massage
comes with herbal oil.
ASIAN SPIRIT MASSAGE (1 hour). A healing foot massage, complemented
by head and shoulder rubdowns, to restore balance in the body. Includes hand
and fist scrub using a special herbal mixture of lotus, jasmine, rose with
young rice grains.
LOMI- LOMI (1 hour). Hawaiian-style massage that is beautiful and
sensual, aimed at re-weaving areas of the body that were once disconnected.
SWEDISH MASSAGE (1 hour). Known to reduce stress, Swedish massage
uses specific strokes and manipulations to stimulate the skin and nervous
system.
SPORTS MASSAGE (1 hour). Applied with quick rhythmic action using
palm, loose fist, fingertips, or the ulna side of the hand, this massage is
aimed at spreading tissue and softening tight muscles
AROMATHERAPHY MASSAGE (1 hour). Essential oils, known to have healing
effects on the body, mind and spirit, are used to the hilt in this type of
massage.
