Porncharoen's dental practice is a glimpse into the
future-fusion medicine.Here at the Bangkok Dental Spa
Clinic,patients are greeted with green tea,the sound of New
Age music and fountains,in a luxury-spa atmosphere.
Patients
in the clinic,on holidays and business trips,have come for
root canals and cosmetic dentistry such as laser whitening.One
patient is Bob Gates of Toronto,whose teeth were knocked out
by a truck when he was 12 and who now need extensive dental
work at age 46.
Gates,an avid golfer who currently works in Hong Kong,enjoyed
playing local courses between sessions in Porncharoen's dental
chair.To ease the strain of long hours of surgery,he got a
free,full-body oil massage and aromatherapy in one of the
clinic's luxurious massage rooms. " Golf is cheap here,and
dental work is less than half the cost it is in Canada," he
says, " If someone needs expensive dental work.they can come
for a holiday,play golf or hit the beach and still come out
